A Comissão Europeia (CE) recuou, esta terça-feira, na intenção de relegar a língua portuguesa para segundo plano na sala de imprensa do executivo comunitário e promover outras, como a espanhola. Vamos na direcção de um sistema em que o nosso objectivo é o de utilizar todas as línguas sempre que isso for possível, afirmou esta terça-feira o porta-voz do executivo comunitário, Françoise Le Bail, na habitual conferência de imprensa diária do executivo comunitário, em Bruxelas. A posição é tomada depois de terem sido feitas consultas a diversas entidades, entre as quais à Associação de Imprensa Internacional (API), explicou. Numa proposta inicial, a Comissão Europeia deu conta da intenção de aumentar, de três para sete, as línguas europeias com direito a interpretação simultânea permanente nas conferências de imprensa diárias dos comissários europeus, em Bruxelas, deixando o português de lado e promovendo, por exemplo, a língua espanhola.
